1. A brief introduction about yourself?
My name is Indusara Lankanath Wijewickrama, and I am 25 years old. Lives in Pitakotte. In 2024, I graduated with a degree in Marketing Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. I am the founder of Ceylon Elegance (Pvt) Ltd, a wedding photography business dedicated to capturing timeless memories.
2. A brief explanation of how you entered this field?
I began laying the foundation for my photography career during my university years. Our campus had a media unit called J’pura Flames, which I joined in my first year. Through it, I learned many new skills and gained valuable experience, including photographing various campus events. This journey inspired me to start my own wedding photography company in my second year. The passion that sparked during those early days continues to drive me today.
3. What experiences and challenges have you faced in the field of photography so far?
When I first started, there were many challenges. Every wedding brought a new experience, and the first one was different. The locations changed, the hotels varied, and we worked with different vendors each time. In the beginning, adapting to all these changes was challenging. The people we met at every wedding were different-no two days were ever the same. However, we embraced these challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, and that mindset has brought us to where we are today.
4. How many weddings have you photographed so far, and which one was the most special to you?
So far, we have covered approximately 350-400 weddings. Among them, my very first wedding holds a special place in my heart-it was my first real experience. I will always remember the customer who trusted us from the very beginning. However, every wedding is special to me, as we are given the honor of capturing one of the most beautiful days in a couple’s life. Each wedding has brought us unique and unforgettable experiences.
5. How do you believe wedding photography enhances the significance of a couple’s special day?
After a couple confirms their booking with us, we usually arrange about three meetings to finalize the agenda. During these sessions, we listen to their ideas and preferences and offer suggestions to help enhance their vision. We typically schedule the pre-shoot about three weeks before the wedding. First, we select the photoshoot location, and then we plan the ceremony, whether it’s a church wedding or a Poruwa ceremony, carefully organizing every detail. A wedding is one of the most significant milestones in a couple’s life, and photographs are the memories that last forever. We aim to capture natural, heartfelt moments. A special feature of our work is that we use three cameras to film from different angles- for example, we cover the Poruwa ceremony from three unique perspectives, ensuring every important moment is beautifully captured.
5. How do you support your clients when they entrust you with their wedding photography, and how can they contact you?
When a couple chooses us as their wedding photographers, we do more than just capture moments- we also assist with the wedding planning process. Couples often face challenges like selecting a color theme, dress code, locations, or finalizing the event agenda, and we are there to guide them through these decisions to make planning easier and stress-free. In addition, we deliver the photo albums within three months, while enlargements are ready within just one week.
6. Your thoughts on Poruwa.lk, the wedding matchmaking service?
Poruwa.lk is a fantastic and innovative concept that significantly simplifies the process of finding a life partner. I wish them all the best in this exciting venture and hope it continues to help many people connect and find lasting relationships.
7. Finally, who would you like to thank for this successful journey?
I’d like to take a moment to express my gratitude to my university, as it truly was the turning point in my life. I’m also deeply thankful to my Ceylon Elegance team. Currently, we have about 25 members, with roughly 75% of them being my friends from campus. I’d like to use this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for their support and dedication.
