1. A brief introduction about you?
My name is Chiranjaya Samal Gamage. I’m a professional wedding photographer and do family and kids photography. As a dedicated wedding photographer, I also capture the most memorable moments of family events and kids’ special occasions. I strive to capture precious moments and unique personalities of your loved ones, creating timeless memories to cherish.
2. How did you start your career in photography?
I am currently a professional photographer, but my background is in software engineering, which I studied after finishing school. I began my photography career in 2016 by joining Flexus Labs. With the experience I gained there, I started my own business, Enamour Photography, in 2018.
3. What are the challenges and experiences you faced in this field of photography?
I have gained extensive experience in the photography field. Flexus Labs is where I developed my skills and became a well-experienced photographer. These experiences added significant value to my life.
4. How many weddings have you covered till now, and name a wedding that took a special place in your heart?
Since starting my own photography business in 2018, we have covered an impressive number of wedding ceremonies. While it’s difficult to pinpoint an exact number, I can estimate that we have photographed nearly 500 weddings. Each event has added to our rich tapestry of experience.
5. In your view, how does photography add value to a wedding day?
In a wedding ceremony, everything becomes a cherished souvenir, with photographs as lasting memories of the special day. As I have mentioned, a wedding is a collection of many elements. The success of a wedding relies on each vendor completing their tasks beautifully and thoroughly. The photographs shine only when every detail of the event is flawlessly executed, showcasing the collective efforts that make the day extraordinary.
6. How do you support your customers in entrusting you with the photography of their wedding day?
When we undertake a wedding ceremony, we hold meetings with the couple to discuss every detail. Drawing from our experience, we inform them about potential occurrences during the event. Given that a wedding typically spans 10 to 12 hours, we know from experience that fitting everything the couple envisions into this timeframe could be more practical. We first offer advice on prioritizing tasks within these constraints.
Furthermore, we provide comprehensive support for all our clients’ needs, from selecting the right vendors. I collaborate with the couple, blending my ideas with theirs, to capture their special day. This involves understanding their preferred style, the types of photos they want, and their overall expectations. I aim to ensure that every wedding we photograph reflects the couple’s unique vision and desire.
7. What advice would you give to a couple planning to get married?
As mentioned, a wedding ceremony typically takes 10 to 12 hours. It’s impractical to fit everything the couple prefers into that period, especially when adhering to auspicious times (nakath) may require postponing certain activities. This day is incredibly memorable for any couple, and our goal is to capture their joy and happiness, creating lasting souvenirs for their future. If the couple feels stressed and rushed, we won’t be able to capture their genuine happy moments.
That’s why I advise couples to focus on what they truly want and what can realistically be achieved within the available time. Additionally, this careful planning ensures a smoother, more enjoyable day, allowing us to capture the authentic, joyful moments that make their wedding day memorable.
8. What are the things you are mainly concerned about when you do photography?
When I take wedding photos, I pay close attention to the colors. For instance, consider green, which has shades like green and mint green. These shades differ not only in appearance but also in cost. Mint green can be ten times more expensive than regular green. That’s why I always strive to capture the true colors in my photos.
Reflecting accurate colors is crucial in photography because couples often spend a significant amount of money on specific shades that are important to them. If we can accurately reproduce those colors in the wedding photos, it ensures the couple’s satisfaction and happiness.
