1. A brief description of yourself?
I’m Sandeep Malith. I graduated in 2023. I live in Maharagama. I first started photography in 2017. My main business is photography, but I have several other businesses, and those are the things that I do these days.
2. A brief explanation of how you entered the field?
I had a passion for photography, and because of that reason, I bought a camera just after finishing my Advanced level. Then I got the opportunity to start my higher Education at the University of Sri Jayawardhanapura, and then I joined J’pura Flames. With the contacts I developed through my university, I have started working with several photography companies. Through the experiences I gained during the past few years, I have started my own business,s namely Ceylon Limerance, and that’s what I developed till now.
3. What challenges and experiences have you had so far in this field?
The challenges are that while working in this field, I met people from different cultures, and I had no idea how to deal with them or how to talk to them at first. It was with time that I understood those things. That means that the work we do will only be successful if we have good communication with them. Because we need to understand their ideas, and we need to feel their feelings, and it takes a little time to gain experience about those things. Those are the challenges and experiences I have had in this field.
4. How many weddings have you photographed so far, and which wedding was the most special to you?
Currently, I have covered more than 250 weddings. I can’t say that one is special because every wedding I do is special to me. I add something special to every wedding I do. I do those things after talking with my crew members, taking ideas from the couple, and planning them. Therefore, it is difficult to say that one wedding is special for me.
5. How do you think wedding photos taken on the wedding day add significance to the day of the wedding for the couple?
For a couple, the most important day of their life is the wedding day, and photography is one of the most important things on the most important day, because everything else is done at that moment, but the photos are the ones that remain with us as memories. Then the couple who come to us often tell them that their number one is photos, then they ask us what we need and prepare those things for us conveniently. Because photographs are memories that will last a lifetime in any case. And we do our work to the best of our ability. We cover every detail of the wedding. We capture everything from the guests attending the wedding ceremony. We try to do our photography as much as they expect or even more.
6. How do you support your customers when they entrust you with their wedding photography?
Speaking of which, to successfully photograph a wedding, not only our support but also the couple’s support should be given a lot of support. That means they have to communicate their requirements with me. I somehow ask them about those things and find out what exactly they want. What captures do they want? About things like Apart from that, they should enjoy their day for free; it is not good to be engaged in any coordinated part. Because if they are under stress, it is difficult for us to capture their real feelings (live shots). Hiring a wedding planner to coordinate the wedding is the best solution for this, and then the couple can enjoy their day freely.
7. What advice would you give to a couple planning a wedding?
Yes, the advice I have to give is to hire professionals for the wedding day. Even if you choose a location, if you choose it with a little care, I think then the work will be successful. Even when hiring a photographer, don’t just look at his photos, you should look at every detail like his backup details, and what kind of things he covers, and similarly when choosing a beautician, you should look not only at his/her quality but also at his timing, because if he delays the work, the whole day’s work will be lost. Can’t do it right. In addition, when planning a wedding, I would say to plan a little because even the pricing may change if you book in advance. If there are discounts for that year, you can get them. These are the tips I can give based on my experience.
8. What are the most important aspects of wedding photography?
I always try to cover every small detail of the wedding. As I said earlier, if there are wordings on the wedding rings from a guest, and if there are captures that the couple expects, I am very concerned about how they will be delivered as they expect. Also, if there is equipment needed to go to the output they expect, I am concerned about things like how to prepare them. I pay a lot of attention to those things, and I also pay a lot of attention to backups. I have 2 physical backups and 1 virtual backup. Another thing I am concerned about is how to finish the job quickly because if they get the photos within a short time after their wedding, it has great value, and when the photos are very old, they lose their value. So I always try to finish my work as soon as possible. Because it is easy for them and easy for me.
9. What is your opinion about the marriage proposal service?

11. Finally, who do you have to thank for this successful journey?
I would especially like to thank my family, including my mom, dad, and sister. They gave me a lot of strength to come on this journey. Also, my journey started with Jpura Flames, and I also want to thank my university: Jayawardenepura University. If I had not come to this university, my path would have been different. I also want to thank my Ceylon Limerance team. I currently have 12 people in that team, and I also want to thank them all.
