Topics like Mangala Danweem and Mangala Sewaya have deep historical roots in Sri Lankan society, where upholding family honor frequently takes precedence over the rule of law. However, many of these cases go unreported due to several challenges. In rural regions, women often lack access to legal aid, counseling, or psychological support. Many do not receive an education because of limited facilities and are married off at a very young age, often through traditional Mangala Danweem or informal marriage proposals in Sri Lanka, before they fully understand the responsibilities of family life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Despite facing emotional or physical harm, many women remain silent.
